Critical Area Air Defense (CAAD) NORAD Homeland Defense Project

Solidus engineers participated on a simulation and analysis team comprised of members from industry and government organizations to review existing Homeland Defense capabilities against airborne threats. Solidus engineers helped design and integrate the Critical Area Air Defense (CAAD) national simulation network that utilized both military and contractor radar simulation assets in conjunction with NORAD, Army and Navy operational equipment and personnel.

Solidus engineers looked at possible operational threat scenarios and related radar tracking and C2 issues. Radar systems analyzed included AWACS, E-2C Hawkeye, MPQ-64, TPS-75 and TPS-59. A Solidus staff member was the lead engineer of both the scenario development and the data analysis teams during the three year effort. Our team wrote a series of formal reports documenting the scenarios executed, analysis process, findings and recommendations for operational system changes.
